WORKING WITH BLUE NILE PAINTING

Who will I be dealing with day to day?

Pamella is your main point of contact for calls, emails, colours and scheduling. Sameh oversees the work on site and checks in as the project moves along.

Do you work on custom homes and higher-end properties?

Yes. Blue Nile Painting is built for custom homes, larger repaints and demanding finishes—where planning, protection and clean lines matter.

What products do you use?

We specify premium lines from Benjamin Moore, Sherwin-Williams and Cloverdale based on the surface, sheen and traffic level, especially for higher-end finishes.

Do you use subcontractors?

No rotating subcontract crews. The same small, experienced team works on your project from start to finish for consistent quality and accountability.

ESTIMATES, PRICING & SCOPE

How do estimates work?

We start with basic details, then do an on-site walkthrough for larger projects. You receive a written estimate listing rooms/surfaces, prep, products and pricing.

Is your estimate free?

For most residential and commercial projects in our service area, yes. If a site requires extensive travel or a paid specification, we’ll confirm upfront.

What affects the price the most?

Surface condition (repairs), amount of preparation, access (heights/staircases), product system (primer/topcoat), and the level of detail in trims and millwork.

Can you match an existing quote?

We can review scope side-by-side. If another quote is missing prep, repairs or premium products, we’ll explain the difference so you can compare fairly.

SCHEDULING & TIMELINES

How far out do you book?

It depends on season and project size. Custom homes, cabinets and exteriors typically book further out—contact us early for ideal dates.

How long does a typical job take?

Small repaints can be a few days. Larger homes and multi-surface projects are staged in phases. We’ll give a realistic timeline in the estimate.

Do you work evenings, weekends or holidays?

Sometimes, for commercial timelines or tight deadlines. We confirm availability case-by-case and only schedule what we can complete properly.

What if our schedule changes?

Just tell Pamella as early as possible. We’ll do our best to adjust dates while keeping the crew schedule organized.

PREPARATION, PROTECTION & CLEANLINESS

How do you protect floors and furniture?

We cover and mask floors, counters and finishes, set up protection zones, and keep walk paths clean—especially in occupied homes.

Do you handle drywall repairs and patching?

Yes. We patch holes, smooth surfaces, sand and prime so walls and ceilings look correct before paint goes on.

Will you caulk and fix gaps?

Where required for a clean finish, yes—especially around trims, doors, and detailed millwork in custom homes.

How do you keep the job site clean?

We work in a logical order, clean daily, and keep tools/materials organized. We aim for a quiet, respectful site—no chaos.

CABINET REFINISHING

Do you refinish cabinets in occupied homes?

Yes, with a staged process and protection. We set expectations clearly for prep time, curing, and minimizing dust and disruption.

How durable is cabinet paint?

Durability depends on the full system: cleaning/degreasing, sanding, bonding primer and a hard topcoat. We use proven systems for kitchens and vanities.

How long do cabinets take?

Most projects are staged over several days depending on size, doors/drawers count, and curing time. The estimate will outline your timeline.

PAINT PRODUCTS & FINISH QUALITY

What products do you use?

We specify premium lines from Benjamin Moore, Sherwin-Williams and Cloverdale based on surface type, sheen and traffic level.

Can you help choose the right sheen?

Yes. We’ll recommend the best sheen for walls, ceilings, trims and cabinets based on durability and the look you want.

Do you spray or roll?

Both. Walls are typically rolled for a consistent finish; cabinets, railings and detailed millwork often require controlled spraying for the smoothest result.

Can you match an existing colour?

We can colour-match with a sample. For best results, we’ll still test and confirm under your home’s lighting.

EXTERIORS & ALBERTA WEATHER

Do you paint stucco and siding?

Yes. We paint stucco and siding after assessing the surface, completing suitable preparation and repairs, and choosing a coating system for the material and exposure. Exterior work is scheduled around suitable weather and manufacturer requirements.

When is the best season for exterior painting?

Spring through early fall is ideal. We plan around temperature, dew point and dry time to ensure proper curing and adhesion.

Do you handle wood repair?

Light repairs may be possible depending on scope. For larger carpentry, we coordinate with your contractor and schedule painting after repairs.

COMMERCIAL WORK

Can you work around business hours?

Yes. We can stage the work to reduce disruption—nights/weekends when needed—and keep the site clean and professional.

Do you handle condo buildings and common areas?

Yes. We handle structured, staged work for lobbies, hallways, stairwells and multi-unit common areas with clear planning and timelines.

PAYMENTS, WARRANTY & NEXT STEPS

How do payments work?

For most projects, we take a deposit to secure scheduling and materials, with progress payments for larger scopes. Your estimate will specify terms.

Do you offer a warranty?

We provide a five-year interior and three-year exterior written workmanship warranty. Coverage, conditions and exclusions are included in your written proposal.

What’s the fastest way to get an estimate?

Use the Request Estimate form with a short description. Pamella will confirm next steps, arrange any project photos and schedule a walkthrough if needed.
